GOD’S WILL OR THE WILL OF THE FLESH

John 21:15-25

Talking about Jesus revealing himself to Simon Peter.

15. So when they had dined, Jesus says

“Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?

He saith unto him,

Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee.

He said unto him Feed my lambs.

16. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he saith unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

Jesus went on to tell what happened when he was young. And then even went back to telling some of the events of the last supper and the betrayal of Jesus by Judas.

John ends his entire book of the Bible saying that Jesus went on to do many other things and that if everything was written that the entire earth couldn’t contain the books that should be written.

The Lord is point out the I AM to me in great details and I will be teaching on the and focusing on the I AM during the retreat in October. You don’t want to miss it.

It is a mother daughter retreat but you can come with a friend or family member or just come. The Lord is drawing in those who he wants to gather together for such a time as this.

What the Lord is speaking to me this morning in this scripture is

1. the fact they knew it was Jesus from the start but wasn’t about to say anything.

2. Jesus dines with them first, then spoke to Simon.

3. Jesus called Simon son of Jonas three times. Till Peter’s heart was grieved.

4. Peter answered him each time he spoke. But the last time you can tell the sincere broken heart of Simon.

5. Jesus told Peter to walk wherever he wanted but to know that when he was old that he will reach out to the Lord and be girding up by the Lord and carried by the Lord wherever he wouldn’t go when he was young.

Meaning he would surrender to the will of the Lord at some point and do what he was called to do because he had already known Jesus as savior Lord and King.

I’ve always heard the message around this scripture about “feed my lamb, feed my sheep, feed my sheep” or about the three times spoken was because Peter denied Jesus three times.

And I’ve heard the message on the fish they caught being so many, and casting your net on the right side at the right time.

The message of Jesus feeding them on the shore.

But I don’t remember a message on the grievance heart Simon Peter had and that Jesus told him about free will versus God’s will.

Maybe in some ways I’ve heard it but not like the Lord is pointing it out to me this morning.

The I AM the way, the truth and the light.

John 14 talks boldly about Jesus being the I AM in the flesh. That no man comes to the Father but by him, and His Will is the only will to peace and life more abundantly.

The struggle between our well and God’s will is real.

I don’t understand why they call our will free, when it is totally choosing the chains of bondage and death and destruction of our life.

Satan took the opportunity and twisted the meaning of free will and God’s will and made it seem like following the will of the Lord is suppressing us when in truth reality doing whatever desires of the flesh is choosing death and destruction and chains of sin and bondage.

God also pointed out to me that when Jesus revealed himself to the disciples after his resurrection the first thing he says to them is declaring PEACE UNTO them.

Remember when Jesus was born the Angels rejoiced peace on earth and good will towards men. The only peace on earth is through Jesus Christ, he is peace, he is the way, the truth and the light.

Satan is the deceiver and who twists everything. Satan wants us to think free will is freedom, and that there is more ways to heaven but there’s not, and Satan tries to get people to have the mindset that they have time to choose to follow Jesus. And that doing our own thing is not choosing do follow Satan but it is.

Let us choose freedom and to follow the path that the Lord has set before us.
